AYBA Doles out Food Supplies to Families in Edo North

With a view to addressing hunger through the provision of food supplies to vulnerable families in communities during the Yuletide, Afemai sons and daughters in the Diaspora, under the aegis of Afemai Youth Bay Area, have doled out food items to no fewer than 120 persons in Auchi Sacred Kingdom, Headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, on Sunday, December 8th, 2024.

The brainchild of home-oriented Youths of Edo North extraction based in the Bay Area, California, USA, the initiative seeks to not only provide food items but also help upscale skills for artisans, empower young women and girls, provide scholarships for indigent students, and create awareness about the environment and the need to give back to the community.

Held at the Lecky Event Center, Up Garrage, Auchi, no fewer than 120 representatives of families across Edo North received packages of essential food items, including rice, beans, Garri, and other supplies, to help cushion the dire effect of hunger that has dawned on vulnerable families—no thanks to the current economic crisis and rising inflationary trend that has drastically reduced the buying power of people all over the world.

Beneficiaries who spoke with ABS News Network expressed elation and appreciation -noting that the items came in good time, given that it was that time of the year when families were faced with the challenge of providing food for their members amidst rising costs.

"We are deeply thankful for this gesture.

"We pray that the Almighty continues to provide for the givers so they can keep supporting those in need." said one Mrs. Zainab in an emotional outpouring.

Facilitators of the exercise at home conveyed messages of hope to the beneficiaries and enjoined all to continue to pray for the betterment of the country with the hopes that things would take a positive turn by God's grace.

They appealed that although times are hard, families must not lose sight of the virtues of communal living.

Mr. Zaks whilst addressing all emphasized the fact that the current situation of Nigeria is not peculiar to the country but that it is a global issue that doubles as a trial.

Whilst emphasizing the place of positive and productive cooperation, he noted that it is with the collaboration between the masses and government that will Nigeria overcome her current travails as a great Nation.

He informed the beneficiaries who were mostly widows, struggling mothers, and d! disabled people that their benefactors (Afemai Youth Bay Area) are poised at helping to touch lives positively as much as they can -noting that more programs and projects that would enhance the living standards of the people and contribute to the overall development of the communities of Afemai are on the way.
