AYBA Doles out Food items to 100 Families in Auchi

April 7, 2024

In view of reaching out to the people of Afenmai, members under the aegis of Afenmai Youth Bay Area in California (USA) have brought home food items to people across Edo North including no fewer than a hundred families in the 7 wards of Etsako West Constituency 1. The event which was held at the Lecky Event Center on Sunday the 7th of April was reportedly facilitated by Hon. Hussein Lecky, an honorable member representing Etsako West Constituency 1 at the Edo State House of Assembly who is reported to have influenced the food drive to ensure that those he is representing get to benefit from the essential items. Representatives of AYBA headed by Haruna Zaks in Auchi while addressing all in the cause of the event recounted that the AYBA started the humanitarian program 3 years ago and has (so far) done well to attend to the needs of Afenmai people through the provision of medical/health equipment, empowerment of youths and women as well as awards of scholarships.

They noted that owing to the current realities of the economy, it had become important to send home food items to help cushion the effect of inflation on the ground and more so, to ensure that the people get to enjoy Eid Fitri. Chairmen of the various wards who were present noted that Hon. Hussein Lecky has done and still doing well for the people through his drive towards bringing home the dividends of democracy. They lauded his giant strides and encouraged him to do more as the reward for a job well done is more work -stating that having done well, it is only logical that he would be given a greater mandate to represent the interest of the people when the time comes.

Responding Hussein noted that the reason for representing his people is to ensure that their needs are attended to as much as possible. “Ramadhan Kareem, this is the holy month and this organization, Afenma Youh Bay Area is built by Afenmai Indigenes based in the US and I’m partnering with them because it’s part of my network to ensure that my people get the essentials they need. “I’m here to represent them to the best of my abilities.” He said while speaking to journalists. Hussein appreciated all who contributed towards making the food drive a success and tasked the beneficiaries to pray for AYBA’s continuous growth.
